Whether snow or rain curtail your usual riding schedule, a stagnate horse will have less circulation in the hoof, which makes them more prone to thrush.

Another factor to consider is what the horse is standing on.  Urine soaked bedding or ankle deep mud can compromise the health of a hoof.  Drained paddocks and clean stalls are a must.
